High-Performance Heat Protection

Lava Heat Shield is made from crushed volcanic rock and finished with a sleek, carbon-fiber-style surface. It reflects and dissipates heat, making it ideal for airboxes, firewalls, and hood insulation—especially on fiberglass or carbon hoods. Natural basalt fibers provide excellent resistance to chemicals and acids, making it great for harsh environments and extreme conditions.

Ultimate Radiant Heat Barrier

Lava Shield blocks radiant heat in firewalls, tunnels, and other high-heat zones with advanced thermal protection.
It withstands 1,200°F continuously and 2,000°F in short bursts, even in low-airflow areas. While less than 1 inch of clearance can be used, a full inch is recommended for optimal performance in vehicle applications.

FAQ

Why don’t you recommend using Lava Shield on rough, unfinished fiberglass or carbon?

Self adhesive backings cannot fill in the surface irregularities that occur on unfinished fiberglass or carbon. For these applications, it is better to use a spray on adhesive with the self adhesive backing.

Can I cut the Lava Shield and “overlap it”?

Lava Shield cuts easily with a pair of scissors of a utility knife. We do not recommend trying to overlap the Lava Shield, because of it’s coating. The coating may prevent the Lava Shield’s adhesive to stick.

What is the difference between the .008 inch and .025 inch Lava Shield

The difference is the thickness of the weave. The .025 inch is going to have more material in the weave.
