The HD Lava Turbo Shield is a heavy duty turbo heat shield for diesel engines, industrial machinery, off-road equipment, and performance turbochargers. We upgraded our proven #RaceTested turbo shield with stainless steel mesh. This helps it handle vibration, abuse, and extreme heat in heavy-duty use.
This high-temperature turbo heat shield traps heat inside the turbo’s hot side. It helps improve spool time and reduce under-hood temperatures. It also helps protect nearby wiring, hoses, sensors, paint, and other components.
Unlike metal turbo covers, the HD Lava Turbo Shield blocks radiant heat. It helps keep heat from spreading into surrounding areas.
The outer layer uses volcanic rock-based Lava Shield material. This material is 25% stronger than fiberglass wraps. It holds up in harsh environments where standard turbo insulation may fail.
Inside, we use a ½-inch Inferno Core insulation layer. This layer sits between the outer shell and a silica contact liner. This setup withstands up to 1800°F continuous and over 2000°F intermittent heat.
No cutting or trimming is required. The shield installs fast and fits securely. It delivers serious heat protection without complicated modifications.
This heavy duty turbo heat shield works well on Tier 4 turbos, turbo manifolds, diesel trucks, generators, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, marine applications, and off-road diesel machinery.

No, it won’t catch fire. Some smoke is normal during initial use. The materials are non-combustible—what you’re seeing is the binder burning off from the textile layers. This is completely safe and expected. The smoke will stop on its own, usually within a few minutes to a few days, depending on how hot your turbo runs.
