Coyote Swap Heat Shield Install on a 1967 Ford F100

During the build of our 1967 Ford F100 shop truck, we found an area that needed more heat protection.

The brake lines below the master cylinder and the fuel line coming off the frame both sit near the exhaust connection. Because of that, they can see a lot of radiant heat.

We wanted to protect those lines before putting the truck on the road. So, we added a thermal barrier between the exhaust and the nearby components.

Adding Heat Protection Near the Exhaust

For this area, we used Heatshield Products Sticky Shield™.

Sticky Shield™ is a flexible peel-and-stick thermal barrier. It works well in tight areas where a custom shape is needed.

First, we measured the space and trimmed the shield to fit. Next, we finished the exposed edges with the included edging tape. Then, we installed the shield between the exhaust and the brake and fuel lines.

As a result, the shield helps reduce radiant heat exposure in that area.

Why Protect Brake and Fuel Lines From Exhaust Heat?

Engine swaps can change the amount of space around the exhaust. Custom exhaust systems can do the same.

For example, lines that had plenty of clearance in the original setup may end up closer to a hot manifold or exhaust pipe. That is especially common on restomods and custom builds.

Because of this, heat management becomes an important part of the installation.

A properly placed thermal barrier can help protect nearby brake, fuel, electrical, and hydraulic lines from radiant heat.

Using Sticky Shield™ for Custom Heat Protection

Sticky Shield™ can be trimmed to fit many custom applications.

It can be used on floors, firewalls, transmission tunnels, body panels, and other areas that need protection from radiant heat.

In our case, it gave us a simple way to add protection in a tight area near the exhaust.
